Since creating this yesterday This Morning have put a public notice on their social media channels saying that they asked their presenters to attend as part of a report.
For me, that only means I'm right to have this concern that their TV programming is toxic, monopolising, and pushing through one media narratives. I also, despite the level of abuse I've received since creating it, still believe it's harming to peoples mental health, and therefore stand by the decision to petition.
When you think this show is on five days a week, for practically a whole day, and it gets watched by very vulnerable people. This show isn't helping them, but serving them. Adding to worries, anxieties, and keeping people stuck at home as opposed to living.
It's become a routine that people can't get out of. I know people who fit these categories, and I worry what it does to their mental health. I worry when tv shows persuade people on their politics and their leisure choices.
But most of all, let's return to the reason this post exists, I'm tired of them protecting insincere hosts. I'm disappointed in the way that they felt they could turn this into a light entertainment piece. Im sick of hearing about the show and the two pictured presenters. (I can't even bring myself to use their names anymore).
So, I will be sending a letter to ITV and related parties to express my concerns. To highlight the huge discontent on social media that led me here and to which they are already aware of, and by letting them know that over 300+, people also felt compelled to sign this petition. That was without marketing, paid promotions, or any attempts from me to make it go viral. It's simply speaking for itself.
I expect an on air apology will come judging by the statement that went out, and to rebuild their public reputation. But I won't be watching. I only wish their loyal fans would do the same.
Thanks sincerely to those who have already signed and who made it pass the 300 mark in less than a day.
I hope you can please enjoy the remainder of your weekend and not spare a moments more thought for the TV show. You have helped spread awareness, and I thank you for it.
