As a passionate supporter of the Livonia High School figure skating team, I've witnessed firsthand the hard work and dedication these athletes put into their sport. Despite their tireless efforts, they are not recognized with varsity letters like other sports teams in our school. This discrepancy is not only unfair but also undermines the value of their commitment.

Livonia Figure Skating Team joins other schools' figure skating teams in district competitions, showcasing their talent, dedication, and commitment to excellence. However, upon the conclusion of these competitions, while their counterparts are recognized with varsity letters for their achievements, Livonia's figure skaters are left without this honor.

Figure skating requires significant physical and mental strength, with athletes often practicing for hours each day to perfect their routines. According to U.S. Figure Skating, it's one of the most watched sports during Winter Olympics (source: U.S. Figure Skating Association). Yet, despite its popularity and demanding nature, it's often overlooked in high school athletic programs.

The Livonia High School Figure Skating Team has brought home numerous awards from local and state competitions over the years. Their achievements should be celebrated and recognized on par with those of other varsity sports.

By awarding varsity letters to our figure skaters, we can show them that we value their contributions just as much as any other athlete at our school. It would serve as a tangible acknowledgment of their hard work and dedication - something they can proudly display for years to come.
