In 2020, Robert Lewandowski had one of the greatest seasons in football history. He led Bayern Munich to a historic treble (Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and UEFA Champions League), finished as the top scorer in every major competition, and delivered world-class performances throughout the year.

Yet, the Ballon d’Or — football’s most prestigious individual award — was canceled that year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This decision was made even though major competitions were completed and other football awards were presented.

Fans, players, and experts around the world agree that Robert Lewandowski was the clear and undeniable winner for 2020. Denying him this honor was an injustice and an unfortunate mark on football history.

We are calling on France Football to do the right thing: retroactively award Robert Lewandowski the 2020 Ballon d’Or.

History should reflect the truth. Fairness should prevail. Robert Lewandowski deserves this recognition — let’s make it official.
