Our beloved town, Aiken, SC, has been blessed with the culinary talents of Alok Kumar Akse, the proprietor of Taj Aiken Indian Cuisine. Mr. Akse once said, "India is known for two things – tourism and food." While he couldn't bring India's magnificent tourism to our town, he has diligently worked to bring its delectable food here.

His passion for sharing his homeland's food and culture sets him apart. However, it's not just his business prowess that deserves to be recognized. It's his constant contributions and selfless acts of kindness to our community. Mr. Akse has proven time and again that he is not just a fantastic chef, but an exceptional townsperson who cares deeply about Aiken.

Many of us have personally experienced his kind-hearted nature and his enthusiasm for our community. It's due time to celebrate this dedicated business owner who consistently gives back to our town. Let's show our appreciation by presenting Alok Kumar Akse with the prestigious honor that he undoubtedly deserves – the Key to the City of Aiken, SC.

This is Kumar! He is the owner and operator of TAJ AIKEN Indian cuisine. He has yet again opened his restaurant for free meals to anyone who is in need. Kumar and his staff are such a blessing to this community. He is one of the nicest people you will have the opportunity to meet.

December 26, 2022 Kumar gave out Free lunch boxes 

December 26, 2023 Kumar distributed over 475 lunch boxes to hungry people for the Holidays he plans on making this a tradition. 

On September 27, 2024, Kumar stepped up to help those affected by Hurricane Helene in Aiken. With power outages and stores closed, he provided free meals to those in need. Every day, he posted for everyone to please come get a free meal, he tirelessly passed out meals, he invited the community, especially frontline workers like linemen, police, and healthcare workers, to enjoy free box lunches. His generosity and support during this difficult time made a huge difference for so many in the community.
