AVA's response

See pic attached. The questions we would like to have answers to. 1. Was the owner prosecuted for violation the AVA Code of Conduct Animal Welfare for Pet Owners? 2. How do you justify no welfare issues for Cats Caged for a few years. 3. How do we know the cats have been rehomed and that they are not kept in cages in another location? 4. What did AVA find at the location in Mei Ling Street? We have to continue sharing this petition until we get these answers. AVA's response to these cats to Chanel News Asia in April 2016. It was allowed to continue for at least 2 years while AVA knew about it and found no issue. If no action is taken this will happen again. AVA NEEDS TO TAKE A DECISIVE STAND! This must never happen again! However, the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) said the cats at Mei Ling Street were found to be in “satisfactory condition”, in an e-mail reply to queries from Channel NewsAsia. “They were cared for by their care giver and residents of the area, who ensured that the cats were provided with adequate food, water and shelter,” the spokesperson added. Meanwhile, the Tanjong Pagar Town Council said it is fully aware of the situation, but no action has been taken as “all the agencies have no issues with this case.” Channel NewsAsia understands that as a rule of thumb, common areas such as the corridor, should be wheelchair accessible in case of emergency. The Property Manager for the estate, Ms Jayleen Ng, added that residents have not lodged any complaints, and the cages do not cause an obstruction to neighbours.
