Her career spans work including popular TV shows: Neighbours, Secret City, Buying Blind, and Deadline Design.
She also appears in the feature films: Time Apart (Amazon Prime, 2020), and The Fort (2021).
In 2009, she fell ill to a dangerous virus from which her body never recovered, and as a result she now journeys with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis.
We are delighted to be partnering with Eliza and welcome her to the Call for Change team a statement from Eliza on the petition is below:
"I am backing the Call for Change petition for patients with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis in Australia.
For decades, patients in their darkest hours have been met with suspicion, neglect, hostility and harm. I know this because I am one of them and I have experienced this shocking treatment myself.
We are calling for change and this petition lays out the reasonable and urgent action to get there.
Not only is this a formal submission to be included in the Disability Royal Commission into Violence, Neglect, Abuse and Exploitation, it is also a petition (with international backing!) for clear steps towards improved healthcare treatment, access and outcomes for ME patients right across the nation.
As a patient with relapsing-remitting ME triggered by a virus in 2009, I know what is to be severely incapacitated by this disease. Today, the initial relief we can give all patients is to say, "We see you. We hear you. We will do better."
Then, the only question remaining is, will you sign this petition and help all patients to hope for a brighter tomorrow? Your opportunity is here!"
