They Say It's Humane. What A Joke.

Is shooting the from a helicopter and letting them bleed to death humane? I'd like to hope not! A number was estimated a few years ago, there would be 12,000 horses in both the Kosciusko and the alpine area now. But the latest count is way down from that. They're trying to use that estimated number to develop a reason why they should go up in helicopters and shoot the brumbies. If they kill the brumbies, all that will happen is the animals like wild dogs and pigs will feed on the brumbies, and then they will be breed up and the pigs will continue to enjoy rolling around in the mud and doing all the damage. In other words, just killing horses is not going to lower what they see as damage. The amount of deer out there is a much bigger problem than the horse will ever be, and there is probably up to maybe half a million out there. But the brumbies are taking all the blame.
