Pretty BIG WIN. "Sydney is getting six new pop-up bike paths to encourage commuters to find alternatives to public transport as the head back to work following COVID-19 restrictions." That is 10.3kms, TfNSW announcement! Instead of ripping up cycleways, the government is actually putting more in AND doing it by working with local councils. This means they CAN do it and are willing too. Something to build off of, one small step for Sydney cycleways, one giant leap for humankind. ;-)
This was overshadowed a bit by the SMH articles about increase car parks (pop up car parks), see here and here.
I must admit that I got a bit overexcited about the car parks announcement on twitter and forgot to celebrate the clear win, state and local councils working together on emergency lanes!
