Hi Everyone! I have some fabulously exciting news to share! Our petition was a success! Yesterday I received a formal response from the minster for education and training, Mr Simon Birmingham, stating that means testing HECS debt repayments is “not an option he is proposing to pursue”. Knowing that this idea will no longer go ahead is an amazing victory that deserves to be celebrated. Without the 42,000 signatures collected during this campaign we would be potentially facing a scenario where the pursuit of higher education within Australia becomes even more difficult and unaffordable for all those with the ambition to seek it. I want to take the time to personally thank each and every one of you for your support. I know one signature amongst thousands may not seem meaningful or time worthy, but every individual who joins a campaign actively counts towards making powerful changes amongst our nation. This petition wouldn’t have been successful without your help – therefore I am eternally appreciate of all those who have contributed. I will always actively fight and campaign to help build a nation where education, a basic human right, remains a given for every person – regardless of their background, race, religion or level of wealth. Live in the knowledge that anything is possible. The louder the voice, the greater the impact. Yours Sincerely, Moniqué Horsey
