Hello everyone,
It’s only been two weeks since I started this petition and there are already more than 11,000 of you who’ve added your name - thank you for joining the campaign. While Australia Post has acknowledged this campaign, there are still no official announcements about actions they will take.
Right now, can you email Australia Post asking them to commit to including traditional place names
I want to include traditional place names as part of addresses for postage to acknowledge our Indigenous history as part of our everyday lives. It’s a small step but can have a meaningful impact for the way we perceive Australia and its First Nations heritage. This is why I’m calling on Australia Post to publish guidelines for adding Indigenous place names in addresses.
In order to implement this change across the country, Australia Post must collect accurate information about traditional place names from Indigenous Elders and community leaders everywhere to create a database that cross-references postcodes to their Indigenous names.

While we wait for Australia Post to take action, please start including traditional place names as part of the address on your postage. I’ve been doing it for months and all of my parcels have reached their destination just fine!
Thank you
