City of Melbourne Council's Jan 26 Backflip - Take Action

Thank you for standing with us. More than 100,000 of you have said January 26 is Not A Date To Celebrate, and we need your voice again.

On Tuesday night, Melbourne City Council reversed its 2022 decision. It now recognises January 26 as Australia's national day and is looking at bringing back the Australia Day parade.

In 2022, nearly 60% of people Council surveyed wanted the date changed, and all five Eastern Kulin Traditional Owner organisations agreed. Nothing has changed except Council's position.

January 26 still hurts. 32% of First Nations people have experienced racism on the day, and a parade in the same streets as the Invasion Day rallies risks tension and conflict.
