As we celebrate and close this successful petition to protect our parkland, we want to let you know about a key vote at the Austin City Council tomorrow.
Tomorrow, Thursday, June 28, 2018, the Austin City Council will vote on Council Member Pool’s resolution (item 60) that directs the City Manager to solicit requests for proposals for McKalla Place through a fair and transparent bidding process.
The Austin American-Statesman editorial board expressed support for Pool’s resolution. “Pool’s measure, cosponsored by Council Members Alison Alter, Ora Houston and Ellen Troxclair, opens the door for other developers to pitch plans for the property. Those plans could include affordable housing, possibly in combination with retail and office spaces, or other creative or green spaces.”
