In Gilbert AZ, we believe that accountability, transparency and leadership matters. As we watch history repeat itself from the (Gilbert) Devil Dogs to the Gilbert Goons, citizens are tired of the cycle of indifference to violence committed in our community.

Especially in the last few years, there seems to be a systemic lack of action, which allows perpetrators to escalate, to sometimes deadly levels.
We honor and recognize the victims tied together by their ignored pleas to Gilbert Police, only receiving attention when National Press makes is too embarrassing to ignore.

We watched Charles Vallow pleading for help securing the safety of himself and his children. We heard the story of Rick Kuehner who did everything that was asked of him to protect his son, who then had to send him away when he got no appreciable assistance. We've watched the Rachel Hansen case get colder and colder, while law enforcement takes no public action and her family is asked to stay quiet.

The latest town embarrassment, a known roving band of young people, committing assaults, thefts, terroristic threats and actions, and absolute mayhem, so comfortable with Gilbert Police's inaction that they would record their own crimes and share widely on social media. They knew, as did the people they spent years intimidating, that Gilbert Law enforcement was likely to do nothing. And near nothing is what they did, until again embarrassed when this mayhem culminated in the death of an innocent young victim Preston Lord.

What we recognize is a pattern of negligence that undermines public safety and trust. Our police chief, Mike Soelberg, under whose leadership this has occurred has had ample opportunity to right this ship, to make changes. He instead continues to make baffling excuses. For this he must be held accountable and the actions of the Gilbert Police Department deserve scrutiny. 

We insist on an immediate audit into GPD's operations to ensure transparency and accountability in law enforcement within our community. It is essential that this audit be conducted by an independent body to avoid any potential conflicts of interest.
