JUSTICE FOR JAE

The Issue

On June 27, 2021, 18 year old Jaelyn Collins was a passenger in a vehicle driven by her best friend, Ashton Bailey.  A man who had been drinking alcohol and texting while driving, hit the vehicle the girls were in head on.  Jaelyn was killed and Ashton severely injured.

This petition is an effort to demonstrate to the courts and State representatives that individuals who are negligent by driving impaired and/or distracted should be held accountable for the lives their actions have adversely affected and/or taken.

This man’s poor judgement and disregard for the safety of others, effectively committed murder.  He knew what could happen but chose to drive impaired AND text.  He should receive the maximum penalty with no plea deal.

Jaelyn had just turned 18, graduated high school, gotten her first job, and pursuing a career in cosmetology.  She had her whole life ahead of her when her life was taken by an impaired and distracted adult male who should have known better.  He deserves nothing less than the maximum penalty and that won’t be enough.

Our hearts are broken.  We have been robbed of a daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, niece, friend. Our family has been devastated and this man should not be allowed to avoid the consequences of his actions.  It is our understanding that his sentence could be reduced to as little as two years or less for taking this young girl’s life.

Please help us get this point across by signing our petition. Please help us get JUSTICE FOR JAE.
