You just hugged, kissed and told your only daughter that you loved her.  Just spent an afternoon filled with happiness, silliness, fun, laughter and smiles.  No way of knowing this would be the very last time.  

About an hour later you learn that your child who had just turned 18 was involved in a vehicle crash.  You hope beyond hope that what you are hearing is not true.  You race blindly to the hospital to be told she is not there. Frantically you want to know where she is.  

Then the troopers come.  You learn that a drunk and distracted (texting) driver has taken your baby’s life. It is the worst nightmare that you never wake up from.

We are working to increase the penalty for vehicular homicide.  12 years with the possibility of only 2 or less being served is a travesty and an insult to grieving families.
