Upstart competitors can be powerful.  No matter how big a company is, it is always in danger of smaller, more nimble, more aware competitors, that are able to identify the soft spots in a leader.  Like Coupang.

Coupang’s commitment to zero packaging is exploiting an area that consumers care deeply about and that is Amazon’s Achille’s heel.

Coupang offers Rocket Delivery in 24 hours or less, Rocket Wow on same or next day, and Zero Packaging, which has eliminated cardboard boxes from 75% of orders. 

We’re very excited that zero packaging is on the horizon.  Coupang totes are cheerfully colored and lightly padded, like a carry-on bag.  And, they’re picked up after all deliveries for reuse.

Coupang is piloting zero packaging in Korea. Good Eggs is piloting it in California.

We’re offering Amazon a way to address this before it becomes a big problem.  Let’s get started on a pilot Amazon Zero Packaging program in Marin County, CA., or elsewhere.
