I am writing to you to express my opposition to the Dollar General Store proposal for the intersection of Highway 42/Hillside Road in the Town of Egg Harbor, one mile south of the Village of Egg Harbor. I love Door County for its nature beauty, lovely harbors, scenic byways and quaint towns.
The reasons I am opposed to the Dollar General development:
- Does not fit the character of Egg Harbor and would detract from its charm
- Tourists come for unique shops, recreation, scenery, etc ; not for a Dollar General
- Would negatively impact local businesses
- Big Box chains don’t belong north of Sturgeon Bay
- This is an inappropriate location; traffic and safety issues will arise
