Thank you again for your support with the Grady renaming process.  The students vote this week on the following choices:  Midtown High School, Piedmont High School or Ida B. Wells High School.

Grady's newspaper, The Southerner, posted an article today that included interviews with Henry W. Grady, III and Ida B. Well's great-great-granddaughter, Tiana Ferrell, who lives in Atlanta.  It's interesting to see that:

• Wells' family was not consulted about the proposed renaming.
• They don't support putting her name on the school.
• They were concerned that use of her name was reactionary, as she had no connection to Atlanta.
• A neutral name, such as Midtown High, was looked at favorably.

It was an excellent article with good comments from Henry W. Grady, III, whose family was also not consulted about the renaming.  Please read the whole thing!
