I worked tirelessly for two months to plan and organize Soaring Heights Astronomy Night in Erie, CO. It was a labor of love, and every detail was meant to bring the wonder of the cosmos to our student's eager eyes. This event was meant to foster a passion for astronomy in our young learners, from elementary through middle school. Everything was ready, the presentations, the telescopes, and the excitement was palpable.

Imagine my dismay when Mr. Powers, without seeking my consent or consulting the invested parties, canceled our beloved event. Not only did he cancel it, but he also deprived me of the opportunity to present, silencing not only my voice but those of the students who were to partake in this celestial celebration. It was disheartening not only for me but for the students and families who were looking forward to a night of exploration and learning.

This petition is a plea to bring a voice back to the students, parents, and everyone involved in Soaring Heights. We are asking for the chance to decide the new date for this magnificent event, ensuring it will occur at a time that is best for the community involved. We seek transparency and collaboration in decision-making, especially when it touches the educational and inspirational experiences of our youth.

Our goal is simple and achievable: allow the community, particularly the students, to have a say in rescheduling Astronomy Night. By setting a new date, we will ensure that the efforts of everyone involved, including my own, are not wasted, and that the excitement and learning opportunities are restored.
