This week we received a direct reply from the CEO.
He is looking to discuss a naming Tribute for Stan, at a Supporters Consultation Committee meeting at the end of this month / early May.
With the intention to implement something, prior to the start of next season.
Let’s hope it is a befitting, lasting Tribute to the King of Loftus Road.
The ideal tribute, we strongly believe, would be the renaming of the Ellerslie Road Stand, to The Stan Bowles Stand.
Although of course, any preference of the family, will receive our full support.
Please continue to show your support and interest, for this or your own, preferred alternative Tribute, to create momentum and spotlight on the committee process, as it reaches we hope, it's glorious conclusion days from now.
We are not there yet, our advice is to send in your thoughts to the CEO, lee.hoos@qpr.co.uk, for consideration, and not just the views of the committee members.
Your signature undoubtedly, has led to this possibility. Congratulations everyone, all credit to The Man, of course.
We made the point to the CEO that, 56% of the fanbase voted Stan the club's greatest ever player in a 2004 EFL poll. 52% voted for Stan, in a 2014 club poll.
Then, there is the unquantifiable evidence, of the unanimous appeal of Stan to fans. The amazing reaction to his tragic diagnosis, at Stan Bowles Day, 22nd August 2015.
The eminent Broadcaster, Robert Elms, has said, 'The bond between Stan Bowles and QPR, is more complete, than between any other, single player and a football team. This wayward, wondrous, magical, yet totally down-to-earth, street genius, is the embodiment, the soul of our Queens Park Rangers.'
The number of fans voting for Stan may fall with time, or be less than 100%, however that doesn't alter the history and the fact, that he was, to any, considered technical analysis, simply the best exponent of the ball to foot jamboree, that is the beautiful game.
Then, now and probably forever, that we will see at Loftus Road or beyond.
That other great Maverick, Alan Hudson, in his book, discussed the proto-type footballer, from all the players he has seen. For the skill, he chose the Skill of Bowles.
Sometimes you have to go with the majority, gut vote, rather than follow proportional representation and try to please every, single vote.
He was a man of the people too, lived among and like one of us. Showing great interest in the story of everyone he met.
He was one of the greatest footballers of his generation, and generations before and since, let alone QPR FC.
A talent that enormous, was criminally shunned by England managers.
Surely, that is all the more reason, that his club should redress some of the injustice and bestow upon him the highest possible honour?
In our humble opinion, that is renaming the Ellerslie Road stand.
Stan was the fans' player, not a striker alone. Wing forward, most often cutting in from the right, onto his wand of a left foot. Entertaining the masses in the Ellerslie etc, with his skills and master showman antics.
The Ellerslie Road stand is the central view from the tunnel, dugouts, executive suites, press and directors' boxes.
Let's do what we can, in the decisive next few days, to influence the decision, to be the best outcome, for the most beloved son of Loftus Road, Our Stan.
Come on Your Rs!
Thanks again.
Eric, Terry, Dan, Stephen and Rob.
QPR FC Tribute for Stan.
