The regressive regime's political system does not permit the application of modern science in managing its economy; instead, it relies on a dominant public sector to channel economic revenue for regime sustenance.

1) Investing on its warmongering efforts, incudes developing advanced weapons', training and supplying its proxies, destabilizing efforts.
2) Investing on its terrorist activities around the world.
3) Redistribution of the rest of economic incomes to  the regime officials and  loyalists. This guarantees the survival of the regime's political system but fails to facilitate wealth distribution among the population. The economy in Iran is managed by the government and those loyal to it, which contributes to Iran's economy amounting to 90% of its GDP. This results in endemic corruption within the country. which is rampant among its officials'

  • The poverty rate has surpassed 70% of the population, and the real income of many Iranians has significantly declined due to rampant inflation. When the regime came to power in 1979, 1 US dollar was equivalent to 70 rials; now, 1 US dollar is approximately 600,000 rials. Considering the decrease in the purchasing power of the US dollar, the purchasing power of Iranians has diminished markedly.
The inflation during the tenure of this regime has reached 9000%, with a 40% inflation rate in December 2023 alone. This has resulted in widespread misery for the majority of Iranians. Below are the key points of the economic conditions affecting most Iranians:
The daily minimum wage in Iran is established at only $4, while the poverty line is at $500 per month.
The percentage of people living below the absolute poverty line in Iran has doubled to 30% from 2018 to 2020.
  • The count of Iranians living below the absolute poverty line has quintupled in the same timeframe..
The daily minimum wage for workers in the year 1403 (2024-25) is 238,873 tomans, which is approximately $4. Many workers are paid on a daily basis, and this base wage is insufficient for survival. With this daily income, purchasing 500g of red meat is not feasible.
The Iranian Labour News Agency (ILNA) reports that the purchasing power of workers' wages has fallen to the lowest level in the country's history.
For many Iranians, "homeownership" has long been an unattainable dream, and now, acquiring even a basic car has turned into a far-off goal. The Pride, a car model synonymous with affordability in Iran, has become a dream that is not readily achievable through hard work alone.
The base monthly salary for workers in 2024 has risen to $120. Official statistics indicate that the number of workers earning below this amount has quintupled.
  • In March 2024, the esteemed economist Farshad Momeni reported that 30 percent of Iran's population is living below the poverty line, and an additional 40 percent are at risk of descending into poverty.
"Combating poverty" has been a regime slogan since 1988; however, experts contend that the regime's economic policies have, in fact, worsened the issue.
  • All the available statistics underscore the worsening poverty crisis in Iran.
In Iranian urban areas, males aged 20 to 30 years old have the highest suicide rates among all demographics, attributed to economic and social difficulties.

This represents a significant challenge for the regime, one that is unwanted due to the political system and yet capable of being addressed. It is also one of the reasons why people are opposing the regime.
