Baltimore authorities arrest man in fatal shooting of police spokesman’s brother By Peter Hermann July 6 Baltimore police arrested a suspect Thursday in the fatal shooting of the brother of T.J. Smith, the department’s chief spokesman, in an apartment on the city’s west side on Sunday. Terrell Gibson, 21, was arrested at his home in the 1800 block of Lafayette Avenue in West Baltimore, a mile from where the victim lived. Police said Gibson was charged with first- and second-degree murder, assault and reckless endangerment. The victim, Dionay Smith, 24, was found fatally shot Sunday night inside his apartment on Argyle Avenue. Police had surveillance video of a man in a hallway that they said helped them identify a suspect. Police did not discuss a possible motive.
