Dear supporters,
Today marks a major moment. The government has finally launched its long-awaited Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) strategy, and it includes a significant breakthrough we’ve been campaigning for.
At the heart of the strategy is a renewed focus on prevention, with investment in tackling teenage relationship abuse and misogynistic attitudes. Crucially, for the first time ever, the government has committed to extending Relationships and Sex Education up to the age of 18!!!
This is a landmark step forward, made possible by your unwavering support over the past four years. Thank you for helping to push this issue onto the national agenda.
While there is still work ahead, this commitment represents real progress. I will continue to hold the government to account to ensure it is delivered in practice. The Children and Wellbeing Bill in the new year provides the perfect opportunity for the government to demonstrate its seriousness by adopting the amendment tabled by Baroness Nicky Morgan on my behalf.
Today is a moment to celebrate, proof that sustained campaigning delivers change and brings us closer to preventing abuse before it starts.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
Warmest wishes,
Faustine
