Dear Supporters,
A few months ago, Channel 4 invited me to take part in their new documentary, Controlled: Can I Trust My Partner?, airing next week. The film explores the alarming rise of domestic abuse and coercive control among under-30s, following several young and very brave victim-survivors, our campaign, and others.
This petition and campaign was featured as one solution to VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls): giving every young person the education they need on healthy relationships, spotting abuse early, sexual health, and more. This is especially urgent for 16 to 18 year olds, who currently miss out because RSE ends at 16, even though 16 to 19 year olds face the highest rates of domestic abuse (ONS, 2024).
Working with thoughtful and caring presenter Daisy Maskell and the team at True Vision was a privilege, but the findings are sobering. The film highlights the urgent need for this petition’s demands to be implemented.
Thanks to your support, we are able to bring our demands, what we believe could be a lifesaving change in education, to such a platform and make our voices heard.
From early next week, you can watch the documentary on Channel 4 and YouTube, with a television broadcast to follow.
Warm wishes,
Faustine
