Yesterday my friends and I filmed some clips for this campaign and spoke about why this cause is so important not only to us but to the next generation of young people who are in the 16-19 age range and currently attend a sixth form or college.
More than half of young people have experienced controlling behaviour in relationships. A third say that how a controlling partner had treated them prevented them from living their life (Define the Line, 2017).
In the same study, 1 in 3 said they found it difficult to define the line between a caring action and a controlling one.
It is exactly because of statistics like this that we are calling on the government to make in-depth education about domestic abuse mandatory in all state sixth forms and 16-19 colleges.
I am calling on you to do your part in supporting this campaign and keep signing and sharing.
