Scientific American interview with Lynne Barre; Orca Appeal mentioned

Lynne Barre, lead author of NOAA's Southern Resident killer whale Recovery Plan, speaks with Rachel Feltman of the Scientific American. Hear Lynne discuss changes being made by the current Federal administration that weaken protections for endangered species, including the salmon eating SRKW population. 

At 17 minutes Lynne discusses the increased importance of local action to protect endangered species and the Orca Appeal. Can you share this? Most people in Seattle still don't know what is happening right here.

Recap:

• Seattle tried to exclude the SRKW from their largest environmental review (Draft EIS)
• In "response" to public comment, said it's not possible for endangered species to recover (One Seattle Plan FEIS) This ignores NOAA Orca and Salmon Recovery Plans.
• Said contaminants are almost immediately diluted to harmless levels (this was added after the main public comment was over).
• Seattle's largest environmental review says the most development will be near water resources and that the polluted runoff will be managed by the same peak flow control measures that were nearly eliminated in the recent Stormwater Code update.

Seattle is still delaying setting a Hearing Examiner date even though the Court of Appeals asked them June 1 to do so.
