Ask Messi to return for World Cup 2030
Ask Messi to return for World Cup 2030
The Issue
On August 31, 2026, an emotional day for millions of football enthusiasts, Lionel Messi announced his retirement from international football. With a staggering record of 207 games and 125 goals for Argentina, including his seminal role in clinching the 2022 World Cup, Messi's legacy is unparalleled. His farewell match against Benin on October 6 may mark the end of an era, but for fans from Argentina, India, and across the globe, this is not an adequate farewell.
Messi has inspired generations with his unmatched skill, dedication, and sportsmanship. His journey from a young boy in Rosario to the legendary figure he is today has been nothing short of awe-inspiring. He showed us dreams can be realized with perseverance and love for the sport. For many, Messi is not just a player; he is a symbol of hope, determination, and greatness.
While we respect his decision, we believe that his presence in the 2030 and potentially the 2034 World Cup would provide Argentina the leadership and inspiration needed to write a new chapter in our football history. Such a comeback would not only delight fans worldwide but also energize the team, possibly leading us to even greater heights.
We acknowledge that this request asks a lot of Messi, and it must be a choice he makes with joy, not obligation. Therefore, we ask the Argentine Football Association (AFA), in collaboration with Messi himself, to consider the aspirations of fans who long for one last dance on the world’s greatest stage.
This petition, while ambitious, is rooted in the passionate plea of millions who have watched and supported Messi through every triumph and challenge. The chance for a few more moments of brilliance on the world stage would be a dream come true.
We call on all fans, legends of the sport, and stakeholders in the world of football to lend their voices to this cause. By signing this petition, you are expressing the collective desire to see our beloved Leo take the field once more in a World Cup, against the backdrop of adoration and thunderous applause from fans and well-wishers.
Sign this petition to show your support for Lionel Messi's return to international football for World Cup 2030.
