📣 Ask Kaveh Madani and Hamed Esmaeilion to Step Up and Form a Leadership for Iran
The Issue
Dear Kaveh and Hamed,
We’re writing this as a heartfelt call, not just from one person, but from many who feel stuck in this moment of history, wanting to act, but needing leadership in this difficult time we all going through.
- Kaveh, you brought science, courage and heart into Iranian politics. You challenged hardliners on climate and water justice. You paid the price. Branded a spy, chased out, but never silenced. You rebuilt your life with dignity, from Imperial College to the UN, and became a symbol of resilience and integrity.
- Hamed, you turned personal tragedy into public courage. After the downing of flight PS752 and the loss of your wife and daughter, you didn’t hide. You stood tall. You mobilised the diaspora. You marched with tens of thousands, not once, but around the world. You’ve pursued justice relentlessly, in Canadian courts, in international forums, and in meetings with world leaders. You’ve shown strategic thinking, legal strength and moral clarity. These are all qualities desperately needed right now.
But Iran’s opposition is still fractured. The streets have quieted, but the anger and hope are still there. We know the regime cannot reform. And yet, no clear alternative has stepped forward. Many of us are watching, waiting, hoping.
What if you teamed up?
What if you, Kaveh and Hamed, formed a political coalition, a leadership platform, or even a people-powered movement that isn’t just about reacting, but planning? What if one of you led, or both of you co-led? One could bring systems thinking, global networks and vision. The other could bring legal strategy, international recognition and mass mobilisation experience.
There are several million Iranians living outside the country. Many of them are ready to support, not just emotionally or symbolically, but financially too. The diaspora is hungry to see a trusted leadership emerge, one they can believe in, contribute to and build with.
We’re not asking for perfection. We’re asking for direction. A place for people to gather around and move forward together.
We know the burden of leadership is heavy. You’re both already doing meaningful work. But the need is urgent. Without bold, pragmatic and credible leadership, we risk wasting yet another historic moment.
About the petitioner:
I am not a member of any political party. I supported the Woman, Life, Freedom movement from the start. I stand firmly against the Islamic Republic and everything it represents. And above all, I support peace, dignity and freedom for all people in Iran.
