There can hardly be anyone in North Derbyshire who hasn't had their life touched by the amazing care Ashgate Hospice provides. They are truly amazing, and their care means so much to us and our community. We need to make sure this service is available to generations going forward. This hospice holds a special place in our hearts as they offer unwavering support, love, and kindness to our loved ones in their final days.

However, Ashgate Hospice is currently facing financial challenges, placing this precious service at risk. They partly depend on the generosity of charitable donations and yet, due to financial pressures, they have been forced to consider reducing bed numbers and potential staff redundancies. This does not just affect the staff, but it jeopardises the quality and availability of the care that so many families in Derbyshire have come to rely on.

The root of the problem lies in funding issues. It's essential that Derbyshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) reevaluate these funding issues to ensure that Ashgate Hospice can continue its essential work without making heartbreaking and drastic cuts.

We are calling upon our local authorities to intervene and allocate fair and equitable funding to support Ashgate Hospice's vital services.
