Ask Chilis to stop taking tips from servers in order to pay other employees.
The Issue
One of the first things you will see if you visit Brinker.com is that Brinker International is one of the world’s leading casual dining restaurant companies. This is a statement from Brinker themselves, as clearly stated on the Brinker.com homepage. The reason I started this petition is to ask Brinker international, (more specifically, Chili’s) to pay their food runners a fair wage, while allowing servers to keep all of their tips. They take 4% of sales out of servers tips to pay other employees. I was moved to start this petition when I was expecting to be tipped out around $50 in credit card tips from the night before, and I received $10 due to the percentages being taken out.
Here is another example from a few nights previous;
I personally worked just over six hours. My sales were reported at $699.77. My charge tips (tips that guests left on a credit card) were $125.12. Chilis takes 5% of sales out of our tips to pay other employees. 1% is tipped to the bartender. I do think tipping the bartender is fair. The issue here is the other 4%. So again, on this particular day, my sales were $699.77. My charge tips were $125.12.
4% of $699.77 is $27.99
So $125.12 - $27.99 is $97.13
$90.13 was what I received after tipping the bartender. (Again- tipping the bartender, I believe, is fair)
by signing this petition, you are asking Chilis and Brinker International to allow servers to keep the tips that are given to them, and to give food runners 4% of sales out of actual sales, not out of servers tip money.
Please sign and share this petition, then leave a comment! Let Brinker International and Chili’s know what you think!
