Single-use plastics are often the default choice in restaurants because they’re cheap and convenient. However, the true cost is far greater—polluting our environment and exposing us to harmful chemicals. (For example, polystyrene utensils can leach styrene, a toxin linked to cancer and nervous system issues, into our food and drinks.)

Many restaurant owners may not realize how much their customers care about this issue. By speaking up, we can show them that we want safer, more sustainable options.

The Use Less Plastic Coalition is gathering signatures to let Cape Cod restaurants know their customers support reducing plastic waste.
