I wanted to provide you all with more information surrounding the history of these therapy caps that was shared with me. Managed Care was suggested a while ago as a cost-savings method in therapy services for children with developmental needs. The possibility of Managed Care terrified our legislative team advocates. Therefore a COMPROMISE was agreed upon - that we accept therapy cuts, and in return, we would NOT have to suffer Managed Care (basically the lesser of two evils). At this time, not only is Arkansas working towards therapy cap implementation, but they are also working on introducing managed care. I am providing a few links that provide clear information on what is happening and what to expect. Medicaid Saves Lives and a few other parents have reached out to a few Arkansas Senators and Representatives via Twitter and have received very negative and inappropriate comments, indicating that some of our elected officials are unwilling to listen or work with us. Please take the time to reach out to your elected officials and tell them how you feel – I think the more people that do this, the more seriously our cause might be considered.
