Artsakh/Nagorno Karabakh - Save Tatik Papik

Artsakh/Nagorno Karabakh - Save Tatik Papik
The Issue
Coming together to save a national identity marker in “Nagorno Karabakh,” or Artsakh as it is called in the Armenian language.
“Tatik Papik”, or “Grandmother and Grandfather,” otherwise also known as “We Are Our Mountains” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_Are_Our_Mountains is a grand and symbolic statue in Stepanakert, the capital on Artsakh. As a result of the complete exodus of Armenians from the region, less than a day's notice of the need to evacuate, and the inability to bring anything but the clothes on peoples' backs and some personal items, this statue has been left behind along with the history of the Armenian people in the region. This poses much concern among the population as this statue is considered a physical formation of the Armenian national identity in the mountains of the Caucasus.
All For Armenia (AllForArmenia.org
- registered in France, USA, Armenia) is trying to find a way, if any, to save this statue by enforcing a no-touch rule and ensuring it’s preservation. Our goal is to find the right group who can help us do this. Immediate action is necessary, as we are unaware of how long this statue is going to stay secure.
This petition aims to highlight voices in favor of saving this statue, and the symbolism associated with its continued presence. Please share it as we will use it to make our case with art conservationists and show how much this monument means to our community.
Please take a moment to write what this statue also means to you, personally, in the comments. Shnoragalutsyun, Merci, and Thank you.
