We have learned that a letter written by Patrick Pearse ordering the men in Four Courts to surrender after the Easter Rising is about to be auctioned in Dublin. It's the last official document written by Pearse as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Irish Army, and we feel it should be preserved for future generations, as it is an important part of Irish history. For this reason we ask the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht to purchase the letter in the name of the Irish people. If it proves impossible, we request the document is made to withdraw from auction and prevented to leave Ireland. We believe even the smallest piece of Irish history is precious and deserves to remain in Ireland.
