It's been over two months since the RNC forwarded the results of their criminal investigation, overseen by ASIRT, to the Crown.
So far it's been absolute silence from them. No updates, no opinions, no charges.
As it stands, I'm at a loss to see why they'd move slowly on this. My only thought is that they've previously taken action against me repeatedly in the past over matters that were ruled entirely unlawful by the courts. The results of those actions shares the blame around for the fruit of the poisoned tree that grew from the original crime.
With every other investigation of this type in the province, outside police forces and outside provincial crowns are used to make sure the matter is treated in an unbiased fashion. Yet in my case, everything is being handled internally, with long distance oversight from ASIRT for a portion of the investigation. Even the legal review the of the investigation is being handled internally.
I'm concerned that there maybe some on-going efforts to mitigate the political fallout from this matter. The judicial system is supposed to be independent and unbiased, with great efforts taken to ensure that the appearance of bias is dealt with in a transparent fashion. I'm not seeing that. I'm seeing secrecy, denials and deflections.
“It is not merely of some importance but is of fundamental importance that justice should not only be done, but should manifestly and undoubtedly be seen to be done”. -Lord Hewart
Nothing should ever be done that creates even a suspicion of that there has been interference with the proper course of justice. This underpins the faith the public is supposed to place in the judiciary. Yet, that aphorism and its intent seem conspicuously absent in the way the judiciary has handled my matter in its entirety.
