Through my many discussions with ASIRT front line staff, I've learned that my file isn't being handled with the normal procedures. I've been given no file numbers, no contact information and received no regular updates from the body that is supposed to be providing oversight. It doesn't even show up anywhere in their database.

The last contact I had with ASIRT involved a member of their team getting upset that I'd mentioned the delays on this petition. That was about four months ago. At the time I was told that it was being reviewed by the Director of ASIRT, Sue Hughson. Since then there has been nothing but silence.

The original unlawful situation they're reviewing happened in a matter of minutes. I've got a son that's turning five now and those few minutes are still being debated as to who bears the ultimate responsibility for them. People are getting paid a salary to investigate those minutes. To compile reports based on their investigations. To write recommendations based on the determination of those reports. The one thing that is conspicuously absent from the entire process is any sort of transparency or honesty. Everything is practically cloaked in riddles. No one can say anything about anything. Justice is dead and rotting in this matter.

If it follows the pattern of how my court rulings were doled out, I'd expect some version of the report might appear sometime in August, after the new Liberal leader is selected for the province. The first ruling didn't come down until the maximum allowed time, which was beyond the normal time, but only because one of the judges involved was promoted to the Supreme Court of Canada. The second ruling also went beyond the normal max time, until the political leader who was implicated in the matter stepped down from his party and was replaced by a new one.

(To me, this speaks to the deep influence that police and government have on the courts in the province. Justice can't be impartial if the courts allow privilege to the tip the scales.)

As the current provincial government continued the policies of the old one towards me, they're equally on the hook for the chain of consequences that stems from the original criminal charter violation. Some of those consequences occurred in the Premier's own district, while I was in communication with his office.

Barring any surprises, I expect the final report will appear something after August 3rd. I'd also expect to see a new Justice Minister appointed around that time as well.
