Hi all, as you know I've been trying to find forever safe homes for the 5 pigs as agreed at my meeting with the Seabreeze committee a few months back. Ever since, I have relentlessly contacted anyone I can think off, and finally sourced homes for the last 3 pigs last week. However, I had been asking the committee for some details on the pigs since April, I needed to know the herd number, the breed and the sex of the pigs, adopting farm raised pigs isn't as easy as a dog or cat, the Dept. of Agriculture needs to know where these pigs are. The committee FINALLY got back to me last night....after all my hard work...this is what they wrote.....bare in mind, these pigs will be ending up in the slaughterhouse, and not in a home with acres of grass and lots of love and peace as I had intended. "Hi Ciara, Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. There has been a number of changes since I emailed you last. As I already mentioned **** (committee member, I'm starring out as that's personal information) has been in hospital and we were waiting on him to contact farmer in relation to pigs. Since he came out of hospital, ****** (committee member) has spoken to the farmer and he has decided that he does not want to part with pigs. He will loan us the pigs for the Pig Race, does not want them going to someone he does not know anything about and what their intentions are, and in light of the issues posed last year feels they are would be better in his own herd and family. I wish to thank you for all your efforts in trying to find homes for the pigs, cannot be easy but as they are his pigs there is nothing we can do on this. Best wishes" To say I'm angry would be an understatement. I feel like I've been played a fool to be honest....So the fight continues, what the next stage is, I just don't know yet. I do have an excellent alternative event for them for next year in mind, whether they listen or accept it is another thing :/ Thank you for your continued support everyone.
