Veto HB 1228

Veto HB 1228
The Issue
H.B. 1228 was passed by the Arkansas Senate, and is awaiting the Governor's signature. This bill will allow individuals to use religion as an excuse to discriminate against LGBT people and other minorities.
This effectively legalizes discrimination against a group of people that the legislature is supposed to be representing, regardless of their political party, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Everyone should be treated equally when in a public place or when employed somewhere that serves the public.
Governor Hutchinson has the chance to show leadership and affirm that Arkansas is welcoming to everyone. Let him know that discrimination, in any form, will not be tolerated.
