Hi everyone,
This update has three separate, important parts, so please read all.
PART #1
My inbox has been flooded, so I'm sorry if I haven't responded directly. Thank you to everyone who has sent me info so far. For ease of things (and because I'm extremely frustrated that they're attempting to make this as difficult as possible) I'm going to be filing to be the spokesperson/main contact for us while also adding everyone in who has sent me info as of today. After I do this filing, those who wish to be included who have not sent me info, will need to file their own complaint under the docket # which is E-01345A-18-0002. (And I will update everyone who has sent me info if what I'm going to attempt to do doesn't work.) As I've gotten info from folks all over the state, coupled with the complexity of hoops to jump through, I want to first try what I think will be easiest for all of us. I myself am a single mom with my own business and nobody is paying me to do this, so I do ask for your patience as I try to maneuver through this task.
PART #2
An AZ Daily Sun Article just came out (http://azdailysun.com/news/local/skyrocketing-aps-bills-aren-t-what-they-seem-state-residential/article_874dbbc6-f1de-5ff3-af92-0de146e3ba82.html#tracking-source=home-top-story-2) stating there has been NO EVIDENCE to date that our APS bills have truly increased above the 4.5% APS stated increase. Therefore, if you have used LESS energy but are paying MORE money (above that 4.5% average) I urge you to send an email to the Residential Customer Utility Office who need to start doing their JOB. Please send your bills (and redact any personal info you want) to the Director and Deputy Director of RUCO. As they will be weighing in on the rate hike rehearing request, I sure would love them to receive hundreds (or thousands) of bills showing that we're not all crazy, and YES, our bills have jumped. Those emails are: dtenney@azruco.gov and jfuentes@azruco.gov. Once you have sent them an email, please post a quick note on this update so we (and the media) can track how many emails they're actually getting. And thank you in advance!
PART #3
I still have not been able to obtain an attorney to assist us (which Commissioner Burns also noted in a letter to the AZ State Legislature last week) which you should read regarding the process which can be found here: http://images.edocket.azcc.gov/docketpdf/0000185082.pdf. This is not an uncommon problem from what I've heard because A. APS has many mid-large size legal firms on retainer, B. Other firms/attorneys are conflicted out from representing organizations during settlements, and/or C. People want APS money in the future. So... As the few attorneys who are sole operators and wouldn't be able to battle the billion dollar beast on a pro bono basis, given the fact we have 1400 people who've now signed, I'm willing to explore the option of crowdfunding for a retainer for an attorney and wondering how many others would support. If all of us could commit from $20 - $100, that could add up quickly and help us find someone. Also, if you have relationships with any attorneys, please reach out. In the meantime, we shall continue to fight the good fight and please feel free to email me (knowing I may not be able to respond right away): sc@champion-pr.com.
