Over 30 of us met at King’s Cross station and walked up to the pond during Tuesday morning’s rush hour, then about 40 of us went for a refreshing dip in the cool water, welcomed by Fusion staff. We were filmed by ITV and photographed by supporters, journalism students and fascinated members of the public, and the story appeared on ITN news and splashed across social media. Campaigners were interviewed by Camden New Journal, London Live TV, and City University journalism students.
We all had a lot of fun, Dr Chris van Tulleken talked about the benefits of cold water swimming, and we made the point very strongly that we totally love King’s Cross pond and wanted to continue! People came from nearby streets and flats, from all over London, the South East, Midlands, Lincolnshire, from Yorkshire, even from Bute in Scotland!

There are so many photos of the event on Twitter and Facebook, but here’s the one that’s probably been shared the most – Dr Chris’s selfie with all of us at King’s Cross station.
Videos of pond swimmers on why they love the pond – feel free to share:

The campaign group will seek a response to our detailed letter to Argent. Local Camden councillors are now involved in looking into ways we might be able to take things forward, and we continue to contact local companies to seek support and funding.
We are thinking about how best to push the campaign forward over the next week, and all ideas are welcome.
