The acceptance of the $4.6M of Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Concession Funds to complete the George Snyder Trail was denied yesterday by the Fairfax City Council by a 3-3 vote after hearing testimony from over 45 people on both sides of the issue. Trail advocates were well represented, but in the end environmentalists and neighbors who lived near the proposed trail won the day.

Shortly thereafter with no clear way to advance the trail project, the Council had no choice but to vote to direct the City staff to cancel the George Snyder Trail.
