In 2000 the City of Fairfax adopted a small area plan for its Northfax area SAP. Approval was preceded by several community meetings as the design group sought public input. A major theme in the final plan is connecting neighborhoods with nature. Northfax is envisioned as an "ecologically sensitive place", and the Accotink Creek watershed plays a major role in that aim. Striving for "stitching neighborhoods together", a key idea is to bridge the divides between Northfax and the surrounding subdivisions via the Accotink Creek.
On the west side, a trail has already been provided by developers to connect to the Cobbdale neighborhood. On the east side, the George Snyder Trail was planned to connect the eastern half of Northfax with the woods around the Accotink Creek. New residents to Northfax would then have a short walk to nature.
We urge you to write the Mayor and City Council to ask that they return the trail project to the public that approved it over many years. Mayor and City Council
