Councillor Kerrie Fergusson has responded to our petition and advised (excerpt below):

"I understand how difficult these situations can be when you see a valued member of the community facing challenging circumstances, and I commend the local residents who have rallied together to support a friend in need.
I am conscious that there are significant governance considerations involved in establishing an employment position at Council and/or accommodating a resident in a Council owned property. For this reason, I have forwarded your email and petition to the Director of Governance to review and advise on the relevant processes and requirements..."
