The purpose of this letter is to express our support for the appointment of Fred Sweitzer to the Kent Memorial Library Commission. We believe that they are the best candidate for this appointment for the following reasons: 

Fred is a caring individual that has committed his life to serving others.
He wants to use this opportunity to ensure our library is a place where people can access knowledge and services regardless of their income for generations to come.

Fred served as the Chair of the Library Facilities Master Planning Committee at the University of Hartford. His experience from leading this committee will help him contribute to ensuring we make wise investments in our library facilities.  

In his capacity as Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost at the University of Hartford, Fred was responsible for hiring a Library Director. This experience in hiring library personnel makes Fred uniquely qualified to assist the KMLC in any staffing decisions that may arise during his tenure.  

As the Associate Dean of the College of Education, Nursing, and Health Professions, Fred was responsible for community outreach, program review and curriculum changes. These experiences will enable Fred to contribute to the improvement of library programming and its impact on Suffield.  

Fred’s experience and demonstrated excellence via multiple awards in the field of Human Services will also benefit our library. Increasingly, libraries are a place where people are able to get services and Fred’s professional and academic background will almost certainly lead to improvements in this critical need in our community. 
 
Based on the points listed above, it is our belief that Fred Sweitzer is the candidate best suited to make a positive contribution to our community if they were appointed to the Kent Memorial Library Commission. We appreciate your time and consideration in this matter.
