I am in close contact with the elderly population in our society, and it saddens me every time I witness them struggling to meet basic needs, hesitating to turn their heating on during the bitterly cold winter months. The elderly, who have contributed to our society immensely, deserve better.

Meanwhile, stories of people who appear healthy, enjoying lavish lifestyles on public funds – your hard-earned money – are not uncommon. This is an egregious violation of the spirit of social aid meant for those genuinely in need, just like the pensioners who can barely afford to stay warm.

It's time for change. This petition calls on the UK government to rigorously reassess everyone claiming benefits. This action will ensure that entitled funds go to those genuinely in need while deterring fraudulent claims.

Alongside this, we call for the implementation of stronger measures to support pensioners. Rather than taking away free TV licences and winter fuel payments, we call for the government to increase their pension and display tangible gratitude for the contributions they made throughout their lifetime. We must make it clear that we value and honour their contributions to our society and ensure that they are treated with the respect and care they deserve.
