Appeal Honourable Supreme Court to protect Aravalli hills

As nature lovers and environment friendly individuals we are deeply distraught and saddened to witness the air around us turning poisonous and hazardous with each passing year. Essential elements like food, air, and water are the bare minimum needs for all living beings. Yet, we seem to have forgotten the grave reality that our relentless quest for growth is plundering nature, causing severe degradation of our environment. Overexploitation of natural resources has drastically diminished the quality of our air, water, and food, posing serious and scary threat to our wellbeing.
The Apex Court's acceptance of the Aravalli's elevation-based definition given recently by a Centre-appointed expert committee poses a severe threat to over 60%-90% of its region. Environmentalists and Conservationists have criticised the Supreme Court's November 20 order that is likely to cause hills below 100 metres from local relief losing protection and opening for mining , threatening the ecological continuity of India's oldest mountain range and creating more gaps for Thar desert dust to advance towards Haryana, Delhi NCR, Western UP, and Eastern Rajasthan. These low, scrub covered hills are crucial for our ecosystem; biodiversity conservation, micro-climate regulation. They act as a vital oxygen source, a shield against storms, and significantly contribute to groundwater conservation. The Delhi NCR region is already facing devastating consequences due to manmade disasters, and further exploitation of these natural reserves could lead to irreversible damage. Loss of vegetation on these smaller hills could disrupt local rainfall patterns and increase heat stress.
This petition is an earnest appeal to the Honourable Supreme Court to reconsider its order that endangers the Aravallis. We need to safeguard these hills for our present and future generations. The Aravallis play a pivotal role in maintaining the ecological balance and ensuring the wellbeing of millions living in the region.
We urge the Supreme Court to prioritize environmental preservation over destructive mining and construction activities that are often driven by greed rather than necessity. By protecting the Aravallis, we protect our air, water, and future.
Let us unite and make our voices heard. Sign this petition to insist on the responsible and sustainable stewardship of our precious natural resources, urging judicial authorities to make informed decisions that favor ecological health and human wellbeing over temporary economic gains.
Together, we can make a difference and pave the way for a sustainable future.
