Imagine scalding yourself. I am sure in some point of life, we have experience being scalded by accident. The pain is already indescribable.
In this tragic case, this poor child is repeatedly being abused by having hot boiling water poured on his skin and suffering second degree burns which as quoted according to the doctor testifying "Partial thickness burns, also known as second-degree burns, covered 75 per cent of his body, said Dr Chan. Such burns are "very painful" and "go down to the blood vessels of the skin", she told the court."
Moreover, being confined in a cage meant for a cat? Where is the dignity for human in this case?
Parents are people who should protect their children from the harshness of this world but in this case, they inflicted the most pain on their biological, living breathing child.
Can we imagine the amount of pain and fear this child went through before his last moments under such monstrous parents? Who could this poor child turn to?
The death penalty is a given, any lesser than that would be a joke considering how much agony and suffering the victim went through. Honestly a million deaths for the torturers would not even suffice considering the amount of pain they have inflicted on the victim.
Justice Valerie Thean, Deputy Public Prosecutors (DPP) Tan Wen Hsien, Daphne Lim and Li Yi Hong, I hope you can fight for a verdict that brings justice for this poor victim.
We can't reverse the suffering and death, but the least we should do with a shred of human conscience is to make sure monsters like this can never see daylight ever again.
