As citizens of the United States, we reject and apologize for the transparently pretextual threats to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Canada made by our government.  Such belligerence is a repugnant betrayal of our shared values and history.  We hope the people of Canada agree that the friendship between our countries is a permanent friendship between our people, not contingent upon our temporary leaders.  We pledge to do all we can to restore and preserve trust, mutual respect, reciprocal and non-coercive trade, and enduring peace between our nations, and to withhold support from any leader who fails to commit to the same.  

The same sentiment extends to Mexico, Denmark, Ukraine, other democracies of Europe, Greenland, Panama, Columbia, and other countries which have been or may be threatened despite seeking nothing but peaceful relations with the United States.
