Share Now So that MPs Discuss This Petition in Parliament

Dear Fellow Citizens,
Thank you for signing and supporting our petition. We are Shilpashree and Seema, two women changemakers who feel strongly about communal harmony. That’s why we joined hands for this cause. We are happy to know that it is not just the two of us, but over 22,000 of you who want some action taken by the government and media bodies to penalize the media platforms that promote hate. Let’s ensure this petition reaches Parliament. Click here to share with all on WhatsApp so that it goes viral and reaches MPs.
THE LATEST
Last week an FIR was registered against the news anchor of a channel, for “maliciously intending to outrage religious feelings.” While any citizen can file an FIR against anyone, what will really send out a strong message is when the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and the News Broadcasting & Digital Standards Authority impose steep fines on news channels that air communal comments - be it by their own news anchors or the guests.
FAVOURABLE NEWS
While the media itself has moved on to reporting on other issues (Maharashtra, Agnipath etc) either deliberately or otherwise, it’s important that the spotlight stays on this cause. Only then will justice be served. That is why we have begun reaching out to Members of Parliament (MPs) to raise this matter in the Monsoon Session of Parliament in July-August. We are happy to share that one MP has shown interest in raising this petition to the I&B Minister.
NEXT STEPS
It’ll be so amazing when the MP talks about a citizens’ petition within the revered walls of Parliament. You can help. Help us make this petition reach 50,000 signatures before Parliament meets. With such a huge number of us speaking out, there will be a greater chance of action being taken by the I&B Ministry.
Click here to share the petition directly on WhatsApp so that we win the fight against hate.
We promise to keep you updated regularly regarding the developments connected to this petition. Counting on your continued support to reach every Indian. Please share this message widely.
Thank you once again,
Seema and Shilpashree
