Reschedule Tufts University Commencement 2020

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, schools like University of Pennsylvania have elected to cancel their on-campus commencement and moved to a virtual ceremony that will broadcast online. This decision came in response to the CDC's recommendation against any public gatherings of more than 50 people for the next two months. It is unclear whether or not Tufts will follow in their footsteps. No decision has been made yet about events following April 30, including Commencement and Senior Week.

While we understand that the increasingly critical situation and health risk that the virus presents, we are devastated at the possibility that Tufts may not reschedule our commencement celebration to a later date. Graduate students, undergraduate students, executive education and doctoral students alike will not have the opportunity to walk across the stage and be handed the diploma they have worked so hard for. No tossing the caps, no pictures with our college friends and families who have traveled from all over the world. These precious moments are being denied to us. Graduating from a prestigious university like Tufts is a once in a lifetime experience that commemorates not only hard work of students, but also the sacrifice of their families and relatives to afford them the opportunity of education.

Please sign this petition so that the University will reschedule Tufts' most treasured tradition to a future date for the affected Class of 2020.
